Impact of biological clogging and pretreatments on the operation of soil aquifer treatments for wastewater reclamation

Globally, sustainable water management is required to minimize security, and soil aquifer treatments (SATs) are widely applied in wastewater reclamation. Clogging problems limit the operation of SATs (i.e., decrease infiltration rate), Physical clogging has been studied. However, effect biological on still unclear. In study, rate A2O ​+ ​NaN3 column decreased slightly, 6–7 ​cm/h with average 0.01 per month after 240 ​d, compared 0.3 columns fed by filtered water. The fastest reduction rate, caused clogging, occurred first 60 ​d corresponded highest hydraulic conductivity 0–2.5 ​cm layer. For alleviating illustrated removing suspended solids from filtration helped reduce approximately 25% polysaccharides heterotrophic bacteria. comparison, pre-ozonation 70% biomass surface layer ​O3 ozonation effluent helps control SAT.
